Cabinet Minister, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India, visited Jaisalmer on 26th July 2011, along with Minister of Energy, Education and IT, Government of Rajasthan. He inaugurated a Solar Power Plant of 1.12 KW capacity at BNRGSK, at Gram Panchayat, Mokala, which would power the computers and other facilities, so that the local population can get un-interrupted services pertaining to NREGA, a citizen service center and mini bank. These beneficial services cover muster roll, attendance records, amount payable as wages, various reports, citizen services, ration-card, Railway/Bus ticket booking, birth/death certificates, other documents, banking services, etc. He took keen interest in the purpose of the project, the SPV solution and expressed happiness that this application would benefit rural people all over the state.
Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL) a Mini-Ratna Public Sector Enterprise under the administrative control of Department of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Govt. of India, is undertaking the project of Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) plants on turnkey basis.
A.K. Jain, Managing Director, informed that REIL is undertaking the entire commissioning work, backed up with after-sales-support over a period of 5 years, so that the targeted people derive the benefits over a long duration of time. He also expressed hope that REIL shall play an important role in replication of this project in other states of the country. The project is being rolled out by a dedicated team of REIL, in the far-flung villages at about 10,000 locations in the state.
This ambitious scheme covers the entire state of Rajasthan including 248 Panchayat Samities and 9168 Gram Panchayats. This project has been conceived and funded by the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Government of Rajasthan and the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, and is first-of-its-kind initiative in the country. The total power generating capacity deployed would be around 10MW distributed across all Panchayat Samities and Gram Panchayats.
