A solar water pump system is essentially an electrical pump system in which the electricity is provided by one or several Photo Voltaic (PV) panels. A typical solar powered pumping system consists of a solar panel array that powers an electric motor, which in turn powers a bore or surface pump.

With the cost of diesel and electricity rising constantly, solar powered water pumps are the perfect alternative for rural regions as these have a low maintenance cost and ensure a long product life.

How do solar water pumps help rural regions?

People from rural regions have to work additionally hard for water, especially due to the unpredictable nature of rain in the country. Our solar powered water pumps are a low cost solution enabling residents in these areas to spend more time increasing their income by growing crops etc., rather than ferrying water from far off distances.

The pumping systems are extremely rugged, maintenance free & do not need any other external source of power. DC power is generated at site itself and fed to the pump. They are ideally suitable for those areas where conventional grid supply is either erratic or non-existent. Also SPV pumps require only one-time investment with no recurring cost and have a long life.

KUSUM SCHEME :

REIL has been installing the Solar PV Systems under the various components of KUSUM scheme well before the inception of scheme itself.

Under Component A, MW size plants are to be installed in the fields & REIL has experience of installing the first ever 5 MW Solar Plant in Phalodi, Rajasthan in the year 2012 in record 100 day time. In totality REIL has experience of installing 5 MW Size SPV Systems in PAN India.

REIL also played a very important role by installing the first ever Solar Water Pumps and interacted them with micro irrigation schemes in the state of Rajasthan in the year 2008-09. The success of the same had resulted into formulating of subsidy schemes by state / MNRE, thereby resulting into installation of lacs of Solar PV Pumps across the length & breath off the country, which presently lies under KUSUM Component 2.

REIL also played a vital role in implementation of first ever installation under KUSUM Component 3, in Mujkuva Village in Anand, Gujrath in the year 2017-18, with support from NDDB, Anand by coining SPICE (Solar Pump Irrigators Cooperative Enterprises) comprising of 11 farmers. The SPICE was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 30.09.2018.
